I know there’s still a month to go before Christmas, but if you’ve decided this year that you don’t want to continue contributing to Christmas consumerism and save some money and also be more sustainable, you need to start doing handmade Christmas decoration as soon as possible.
This decoration can be done with your toddlers, friends or family. You can also give it as a gift for the invisible friend or for that friend who has just opened a house and this is her first Christmas.
It will be a new tradition in your house, you will give more value to those adornments that you have made. You will have them personalized with the name of your children, important dates, with that fabric of a dress that brings back memories of your childhood.
Now you have an excuse to go shopping at the fabric store that you no longer want to go through because you always end up stinging on something. Look for scraps of fabric (you only need a piece) with Christmas motifs, plain fabrics to match the colors of your home decor or Christmas decoration.
And even use those pieces of fabric you have left over from other projects to make these decorations.
Start now with your Handmade Christmas Decoration
I leave you several downloadable Christmas figures for you to use as a pattern to cut on the fabric, or as embroidery. And if you follow me on Instagram you will have many mini tutorials throughout this month so you can get started with your Handmade Christmas.
In this link you have your free downloads.
In this season, you always feel like doing something new. Start with a hobby that might become a fixture in your routine. Crafts are an affordable option, where you see quick results and don’t need a big investment of money and time.
It will help you on a personal level by reducing stress, increasing creativity and self-confidence. And not only that, by reducing your consumption, you will also save money and help the planet by reducing the waste of clothes you throw away each year, the emissions produced by factories to make those products. Because the pieces you make yourself have a much longer durability, you will take more care of them and the quality will be superior.
Leave me in the comments if you are also thinking about starting to create your own decorations. And don’t forget to tag me in Instagram #abelisfashion to see your creations.
